每年都幫孩子們準備英文演講稿。第一年時簡直煩惱死了，想了好久，感覺壓力好大，很辛苦才完成。現在則是信手捻來，一會兒就完成了。不過當然還是先請老公修改後，才敢交給老師再次修改。

Good morning, everyone. My name is Chan. Today I am happy to tell you about “What I can do to save the Earth?”

This is my piggy bank.  It was made by a tea caddy last year. When I help mom to do family chores, mom gives me coins to put in it. Now, the piggy bank is almost full and very heavy. I want to donate the money to help saving the Earth.

However, my brother doesn’t want to donate money. He said : kids can do many other things to save the Earth. These are some ideas.

1)     To save energy: When I leave a room, I can turn off lights, fans, or the TV.

2)     To save water: I can take shorter showers and use natural soap. Many detergents may pollute water in the rivers or seas.

3)     To save fish: I can ask mom not to buy big fish such as salmons, tunas or sharks. These big fish need more time to grow up, and their amounts are much fewer than small fish. If we don’t stop eating them, they will be endangered soon.

4)     To save food: I can eat more vegetables and less meat. My mom has a vegetable garden. Mom does not use any pesticides or fertilizers in her garden. I always like to help mom in the garden. In addition, I should not ask mom to buy imported fruit for me. We should eat food that is produced locally.

5)     To save clothing I can reuse: I can wear my brother’s old clothes. I should remind mom to take reused shopping bags with her when we go shopping. We should also buy what we need, not what we want. I can bring my own water bottle, instead of drinking bottled water.

There are many other things we kids can do to save the Earth. Let’s do together. In fact, it’s not only saving the Earth, it’s saving ourselves.
